Photographer Taking Picture of Group with Donkey at Crowded Beach
Atlantic City, New Jersey
Detroit Photographic Co.
1890-1910
Photographers were often on hand at the beach and boardwalk in Atlantic City to take a photo of visitors. This photo shows one possibility: on a tired-looking donkey. The woman on the right holds a sign that says, "I could stay in Atlantic City forever."

Historical Photos in Color
ca. 1890-1910
Many of the photographs in our collection were originally printed in color before the era of color photography.
These photos were printed using a color lithography process invented in the 1880s that allowed the creation of very high quality
false color prints with remarkable clarity.
