About This Map

Historic USGS topographic maps originally printed between 1892-1911 that cover the entire Grand Canyon and much of northern Arizona. The maps cover the area from Lee's Ferry and Glen Canyon in the upper right to the Nevada border and the beginning of present-day Lake Mead on the left, and from Flagstaff in the bottom right all the way to the Utah border in the north. The maps include numerous details, including mountains, rivers, plateaus, elevation contour lines, and other geographic features, as well as railroads, trails, and towns. The wandering line that traces a route horizontally across the bottom three maps shows the original railroad line, which would also become the route of the later historic Route 66.
