What's New - October 2009

Added two Civil War maps: the first is a collection of 16 maps from 1861 showing towns and regions of interest in the war mainly highlighting the locations of forts. The other is a map from 1864 showing the region around Richmond, Virginia indicating the locations of forts, railroads and other features.

Added a 1890 railroad map of the United States that shows all rail lines in the country, with particular emphasis on the Shenandoah Valley R.R., Norfolk & Western R.R. and East Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia routes.

Added a 1831 map of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut by Samuel Augustus Mitchell, one of the earliest county and township maps to show existing and proposed railroads in New England.

A detailed map of New Jersey made during the American Revolution. Roads and towns are indicated, as well as numerous topographic details. The division lines between the provinces of East and West New Jersey are shown, including the Keith Line, established in 1687, and the Division Line established in 1743.
