About This Map
Printed in 1806, this map shows the layout of New Haven as it appeared before the American Revolution, in 1748. The map shows details of land ownership, with houses drawn pictorially and labelled with the names and professions of the owners. The map also shows the plots of the original grantees, as well as the locations of other structures, including Yale College, the court house, and the grammar school. The index in the lower right includes the names of the original grantees. Oriented with north to the upper right.
