About This Map
Late 19th century star chart showing the major constellations and stars of magnitudes 1 through 5 in both the northern and southern hemispheres. A number of "nebulas" are shown around the sides, only one of which is what astronomer's now call a nebula (the Crab Nebula, in the upper left corner). The object in the upper right is likely an open cluster in the constellation Scutum, and the objects along the bottom are all galaxies.
