Published by the American Antiquarian Society in 1836, this map shows the distribution of Native American tribes in North America as of the year 1600 in the eastern half of the continent, and as of the year 1800 in the western half. Coloring on the map indicates major groupings: Eskimaux, Athapascas, Algonkin-Lenape, Iroquois, Cherokees, Creeks, Choctas and Chicasas, Sioux, Black Feet, and Pawnees.
